Chand Mera Dil Registers Steady Advance Bookings Ahead of May 22 Release

The upcoming romantic drama Chand Mera Dil is demonstrating encouraging momentum in its advance ticket sales, positioning it for a respectable opening at the Indian box office. Starring Lakshya and Ananya Panday in the lead roles, the film is scheduled for a nationwide theatrical release on May 22, 2026.

Directed by Vivek Soni and produced by Karan Johar under the Dharma Productions banner, the film presents the story of a passionate college romance between engineering students Aarav and Chandni. Their relationship is tested by the demands of adulthood, personal ambitions, emotional conflicts, and unforeseen circumstances. The narrative blends elements of youthful romance with mature reflections on love and responsibility, supported by a musical score that has already attracted attention.

Trade reports indicate that advance bookings have shown consistent growth since opening earlier this week. As of Wednesday evening, the film had sold approximately 9,000 tickets across major national multiplex chains, including PVR Inox and Cinepolis. Earlier updates had recorded figures of around 3,500 to 5,400 tickets, reflecting a clear upward trend. With one full day of sales remaining before release, industry trackers project that the film could conclude its advance phase with 20,000 to 25,000 tickets across these prominent circuits.

A significant contributor to the current performance has been the film’s opening-day pricing strategy. Tickets for shows before 5:00 PM have been set at ₹149, while those after 5:00 PM are priced at ₹199. This approach appears designed to attract younger audiences and families, enhancing accessibility during the crucial first day.

Analysts anticipate a Day 1 net collection in the range of ₹4 to 6 crore. In the absence of major competing releases, the film is expected to benefit from relatively favourable screen allocation, particularly in urban multiplexes. Should word-of-mouth prove positive, estimates suggest a potential opening weekend in the region of ₹16 to 18 crore net. Such a result would position Chand Mera Dil as one of the stronger romantic openers of 2026.

The music album, featuring compositions by Sachin-Jigar and a notable rendition of the title track by Shreya Ghoshal, has contributed to the pre-release buzz. The trailer has also been received positively for its emotional depth and visual appeal.

For a mid-budget production led by a relatively fresh on-screen pairing — with Lakshya appearing in his second major release following the action-oriented Kill — the current advance trajectory is viewed as promising. The coming hours will be critical in determining the final strength of bookings. Trade observers note that sustained audience interest will ultimately depend on the film’s ability to connect emotionally upon release.

Overall, Chand Mera Dil enters its opening weekend with cautious optimism, supported by strategic pricing, growing ticket sales, and the appeal of its music and young leads.
