Verdict: Haiwaan brings Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan together after 18 years, and their face-off is the film’s biggest draw. But a stretched runtime, a familiar plot lifted almost scene-for-scene from Oppam, and an uneven second half hold it back from being a complete winner.

Pros:

  • Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan’s on-screen chemistry and individual performances
  • A gripping, tense first half that hooks viewers early
  • Strong background score that lifts key confrontation scenes

Cons:

  • Story feels like a near frame-by-frame copy of the original Oppam, with little fresh treatment
  • Second half drags, and the climax feels underwhelming to many viewers

Saif Ali Khan plays Shyam, a visually impaired man working as a maintenance manager in a Mumbai housing society. He shares a close bond with a retired judge, played by Boman Irani, who carries a long held guilt tied to a dangerous man named Parshuram, played by Akshay Kumar.

When Parshuram sets his sights on the judge, it’s up to Shyam, despite his disability, to protect him and the people around him. What follows is a cat and mouse battle where the blind man’s other senses become his biggest weapon.
